Monthly Writers’ Group Meeting

Monthly Writers’ Group Meeting

writing-group

Monday, April 9, 2018 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Baruch College, 151 East 25th Street, Room 415

Free, but RSVP Needed

Join us for the monthly SLA-NY Writers’ Group Meeting! As information professionals, we often want to write more, be it for creative purposes, professional development and experience, or just to have your voice heard. However, finding the time and motivation can be difficult!

Now, there’s a chance for librarians to come together in a collaborative environment to discuss writing projects, bounce ideas around, and both provide and seek out editing. The group will be fairly informal, with options to bring in speakers and more formal workshops to help SLA-NY members refine their writing ability.

If you couldn’t make the last meeting, that’s okay! This is an informal group meant to encourage and help each other achieve long-standing professional and personal writing goals. There will be a brief presentation, and then time to write, so please bring your laptop or favorite writing instrument. Coffee and tea will be available. Please RSVP by April 8 if you would like to attend. Contact Deborah Goss at deborahgoss@gmail.com for questions or concerns.

SLANY-Karaoke-2017

2nd Annual SLA-NY Sings for Herstory!

SLANY-Karaoke-2017March is Women’s History Month and last year’s inaugural Herstory Karaoke outing was such a success (see pictures) we’re reprising the event!

SLA-NY will be recognizing contributions made by women by belting out a few tunes by our favorite female artists at a karaoke joint on Thursday, March 15.

What: Karaoke outing with theme of songs sung by female identified musical artists/groups.
When: Thursday, March 15
When: 6:30-8:30pm
Where: Duet 35, near Herald Square.
Cost: $12.00 (includes individual room fee for two hours and tax)

Your RSVP and registration includes the “cover charge” of $12 for two hours karaoke entertainment which is a STEAL for high quality entertainment in New York City! Please note that singers and spectators pay the same fee so you might as well belt out a few.

Drinks can be ordered separately at the bar.

SLANY-Karaoke-20172So start thinking about your solos and group numbers by your favorite female-identified artists. Fortunately for us infopros, there is an electronic resource we can use!! Click here to search their song database for your favorite tunes.
